Role: Training Manager
Years in Accounting & Years at MoneyPenny: 7 years in accounting, over 5 of them at MoneyPenny. Before this, I taught accounting to students. That’s where the training instinct started.
Favorite App & Why: My favorite app is Double. It works as both a workflow and review tool, so I’m not opening QBO for every small check. I can verify, allocate, and raise a client query from one screen. The updates from Double keep coming, and half my training material has to be rewritten to keep up. That’s a good problem to have.
A Strength You Bring to the Team: I was a Team Lead before I was a trainer, so I’ve done the work I’m teaching. That means no theory and no slides for the sake of slides. If I find a shortcut that saves ten minutes on a file, the whole team knows by that same day. I also keep training sessions light and engaging, because people remember more when they’re not just sitting through a boring technical session waiting for it to end.
What You Enjoy About Working with MoneyPenny Clients: What I enjoy is that our clients genuinely care about the work. Some are easy to work with, some take time to win over, but none of them are just going through the motions. Even the demanding ones push us to be better, and that’s what keeps the team sharp.
What’s Something You’ve Learned Working at MoneyPenny? The biggest thing I’ve learned here is that trust is built in the uncomfortable moments. When something goes wrong, the instinct is to quietly fix it and hope nobody noticed. I’ve learned to do the opposite. Say it, find out why it happened, correct it properly, and tell the client what changed. Every long client relationship I’ve seen at MoneyPenny was built on someone being honest when it would have been easier not to be. That took me a few years to really understand.
A Work Moment or Project You’re Proud Of: When I was promoted from Team Lead to Training Manager, one of my clients pushed back. Their reaction was “we definitely need Swetha on our books, please don’t take her off.” That’s the moment I knew I’d done something right. I’m also proud of how training runs here. Management has never once asked me to justify a session. They give me full ownership of what our new and existing team members learn, and that kind of trust is its own reward.
Outside of Work, I Enjoy: Cooking, music, and time with my family. And my dog Ace. He’s a very good boy and my most reliable stress reliever.
Something Most Colleagues Don’t Know About Me: Most people would never guess I’m an ambivert. At work you usually see the version of me that’s running a room, but the other version puts headphones on and needs an hour alone to recharge. I need both. I’m also a workaholic and always on my phone, which my family will happily confirm.
Currently on My Playlist, Bookshelf, or Watchlist: All Yuvan Shankar Raja, G.V. Prakash, and Anirudh Ravichander, three of the best music directors South India has produced. My watchlist is almost entirely horror and sci-fi. Most recently, Obsession (2026).
Finish This Sentence: “You’d never guess, but I once…” Sang, constantly. I’m classically trained in Carnatic music and performed at nearly every cultural event through school, plus a run of drama plays that earned me a few medals. Which explains a lot. Standing in front of a room was never the hard part of this job.
